Enjoy The Beautiful City of Armidale - NSW Australia

Armidale is located 525 km north-north-west of Sydney and 465 km south-west of Brisbane within the district known as New England.

The city, unlike most of Australia, has four distinct seasons. It's Interesting with the naming the district "New England" as it is has introduced birch, ash and poplar trees, which lend such a European feel to the city, set the town ablaze with reds, golds and browns in autumn.

There are plenty of impressive scenery's around Armidale, including forests, mountain gorges, waterfalls (Wollomombi Falls are one of the highest in Australia) and four national parks.

The town also boasts two major cathedrals and other churches facing Armidale Central Park, and St Nicholas's which is registered on the National Estate.

Around the corner from the Estelle Kramer is NERAM (New England Regional Art Gallery) it is considered by many as the best of any country gallery in Australia, with a particularly impressive array of Australian paintings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, plus a constant cycle of art displays. NERAM has an excellent Cafe'.

The City has beautiful heritage buildings intergrated in the towns CBD. Plus many large Locally owned businesses. One large and prominant Department store is Hanna's. Also the re-opening of the Hilgrove (just a 15 minutes away from Armidale) mines will ensure additional jobs and income for the City.

In the last 20 years of the century Armidale established itself as an educational centre with the opening of St Ursula's (1881), the Ladies' College (1889), the grammar school, the Armidale School (1894) and New England School (1895). Plus many other schools.
